Finger of St. Dymphna in a Wooden Reliquary (11th c)

Relics, the remains of saints and martyrs, and reliquaries, any box, casket or shrine that house relics, have been in existence since the beginnings of Christianity. The relic displayed here is believed to be the finger of Saint Dymphna of Gheel, housed within a wooden casket dating to the 11th century.
